iPhone Unlock 3.1.3 Firmware on 05.12.01 Baseband Release Seems Upcoming

Apple has unexpectedly introduced a modest update, iPhone 3.1.3 for all iPhone users. Today the iPhone 3.1.3 update was launched to people who likely use iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch. The update for the iPhone and iPod touch operating system is available for download through iTunes This is not the same version which runs on the iPhone OS 3.2. This update does not really add anything new, but it includes mostly irritate fixes. If you would like to jailbreak or unlock your iPhone, you must know following. If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS DO NOT UPDATE to this new firmware. That’s because if you make a mistake you may find yourself stuck at official 3.1.3 with no way to jailbreak or come back down to 3.1.2 to jailbreak. Updating to the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware will completely update your baseband. The newer baseband does not support software unlocking. Wait for the new jailbreaking and unlocking tools before updating your device or you may loose the capability to jailbreak or unlock it in future. If you update your iPhone to new firmware, it will become a useless phone. Also, the iPhone 3.1.3 firmware updates the baseband to 05.12.01. It’s possible to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 OS but only if your baseband hasn't been updated to 05.11.07 or the newer baseband. You must create a custom firmware that uses the 04.26.08 baseband.
Be careful!!! Don’t fall for scam sites that offer you unlocking solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3. None of them have a 05.12 unlock, none have the 05.11 unlock working on 3.1.3 Firmware, none have a 3.1.3 jailbreak for newer devices. They’re trying to cash in on your upgrade mistake, and they only need a very small percentage of people to pay them to make their money and run. The guides for unlocking iPhone 3.1.3 OS will be up on our website once a jailbreak tool is released.
If you mistakenly updated to the stock iPhone OS 3.1.3 from iTunes and are locked out, you maybe in with a good fortune because an unlocking tool is coming out soon. George Hotz has confirmed via his twitter account that he has a working exploit which can unlock the latest 05.12.01 baseband which Apple bundled when they released iPhone 3.1.3 Firmware for iPhone and iPod touch earlier this month. While no ETA was given, judging by his tweet, it may not be too long before we get the updated version of blacksn0w, which can unlock 05.12.01 baseband on iPhone 3.1.3 firmware.
Last week, another iPhone hacker and developer named Sherif Hashim also found a solution for the latest baseband. This exploit was sent to iPhone Dev-Team and they confirmed that it was working but didn’t give any ETA on when they are going to release a tool which is going to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 OS on 05.12.01 Baseband for iPhone 3G and 3G or even whether they're going to do that. Maybe they don’t want to waste this all important exploit for this minor update and instead will use it when the major update such as iPhone 3.2 OS or iPhone 4.0 Firmware is released with the next generation iPhone 4G.
A great deal of rumors around the new solution called Gull1hack. It’s from a new group of iPhone hackers. Developers said that it allows you to easily install Cydia with just one flip of a switch. It’s not yet available, and one thing we’re certainly looking forward to once its ready for public usage is the feature called blacksn0w v2. This is their own unlock tool which promises to unlock baseband 05.12 that’s bundled with iPhone OS 3.1.3. However, it sounds really good, but all we know that Geohot and the iPhone Dev Team both have not confirmed the legitimacy of this jailbreak tool and the expertise of this new group.
