Thoughts on Existing Jailbreak Situation

Share/Save/Bookmark

You probably wonder when exactly Blackra1n, Spirit and Greenpois0n’s iPad jailbreak tools will be launched. Let’s see what some experts think about this current jailbreak situation. We’ll take a close look at P0sixninja’s post on Twitter.

According to P0sixninja, greenpois0n is a tool that helps to find and exploit new vulnerabilities in devices. This is not an exploit itself. Usually exploits have other (technical) names (iBoot bla-bla-bla) that are quite boring. As for tools, they often get creative names. Take a look at Blackra1n or Greenpois0n and you will see the difference.

Because Redsn0w and Blackra1n have their weaknesses, Greenpois0n was created. This tool allows doing everything with your device: access AES engine, read and write filesystem, see breakpoints, etc.

Let’s return to exploits. Do you remember that “Spirit” exploit designed by Comex that was used for the first iPad jailbreak? We talked about this before. Well, P0sixninja writes that this “Spirit” exploit was released first. This exploit doesn’t give you access to many of hardware features. Besides this, it can be easily patched by Apple. And the iBoot exploit that will offer more freedom will be launched later on.

P0sixninja assures that by the end of April there will be exploits for iPad 3.1.3 and 3.2. Currently Comex is preparing Cydia to run on the iPad. At the same time Geohot finds another idea on how to jailbreak iPad using a new exploit and throwing a wrench in Come’s gears. Thus the release of Greenpois0n is delayed.

If you want to know when an unlock will be available, the expert says it can happen not sooner than the next iPhone is launched.
