Israel Bans iPad while the World is Waiting for the Delayed iPad Release
iPad imports have been banned in Israel. The country has made custom officials confiscating these Apple’s devices from those people who bring them into Israel!

While this happens in Israel, the whole world is waiting for the official iPad release that has been delayed by one month. According to Apple, the demand in the U.S. is so high that they can’t satisfy everybody right away.
Over 500,000 iPads were sold during the first week of its official sales launch. The company will continue exceeding its supply over the next month because more people want to own an iPad. However Apple decided to postpone the international release of its iPad until the end of May. The company assures that it will start taking online pre-orders on May 10.
Because iPad is currently sold only in the United States, people from all over the world travel to America to buy this device. While most countries are ok with this tendency, Israel bans iPad imports.
According to Israel officials, this happens because the Communication Ministry staff refuses to compromise on testing iPad’s suitability with Israeli wireless networks. They say that the iPad operates over Wi-Fi modem at levels compatibles with the U.S. standards. At the same time Israel uses European standards that are different from American ones. That is why the iPad broadcast levels can’t be approved in Israel, at least for now.
