YouTube for iPhone: New Site
The new mobile site is currently in English language only. It has many great features that match the ones on the normal YouTube website.
The first mobile site was introduced by YouTube in 2007. Since then it serves about 100 million videos daily, according to product manager Andrey Doronichev.
If you go to Safari using your iPhone (use Google as your home page), you can watch a video called “the full YouTube experience”. It assures you that you can’t really find a difference between your YouTube app and its web version when you view it from horizontal mode. Still there are some limited features in the application.
For example, iPhone users can’t rate YouTube videos via “like” and “dislike” buttons using YouTube application as they will still see the old star ratings in it. Besides this, you won’t find the feature when you are suggested search results while typing in the search box on YouTube mobile site.
There is a question you might ask. Is there any need to use iPhone apps if you can use the site? It’s all up to you to decide whether you like to use application or site. And Google can’t make you do what it wants.
